The following program change proposals were approved on the CIM Program Report.  The program changes will be forwarded for consideration to the Faculty Senate schedule for November 9, 2022.

a. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food, and Life Sciences, Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness – AGBSBS – Agricultural Business, Bachelor of Science in Agri Food and Life Sciences presented by Nathan Kemper.

Adding online delivery to our existing degree in Agricultural Business. We are also creating a new degree concentration, Agribusiness Risk Management (ABRM), to be offered 100% online. Two courses in the Agribusiness Core will be developed for online delivery: AGEC 3733 and AGEC 4143, for a total development cost of $10,000. Global Campus will provide the development funds for each course to total $10,000.

To provide an unparalleled online degree program, by offering a new concentration emphasizing a rigorous training in Agribusiness Risk Management, to engage students not currently served by our on-campus degree program. Our online degree in Agricultural Business will increase the number of Agricultural Business majors in Arkansas earning degrees from the UA - Fayetteville campus. (4a_agbsbs_report_10282022, 4a_agbsbs_distance_delivery_curriculum_10282022, 4a_agbsbs_distance_delivery_ltr_of_notification_10282022).

b. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food, and Life Sciences, Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness – AGBSBS-ABRM – Agricultural Business: Agribusiness Risk Management Concentration presented by Nathan Kemper.

To develop the first 100% Online degree in Agricultural Business in Arkansas, by developing a new concentration in Agribusiness Risk Management (ABRM).

Attachments include: 1) email correspondence between Drs. Ellstrand, Liu, and Kemper regarding the collaboration, 2) Vision and Mission Statements for the new online program, and 3) a draft checksheet for the new ABRM Concentration.

To offer the premier online Agricultural Business program in the United States.

To provide an unparalleled online program, by offering a degree concentration emphasizing a rigorous training in Agribusiness Risk Management, to engage students not currently served by our on-campus degree program.

The following objectives will allow the AEAB to accomplish its mission:
1. Attract high quality students by overcoming barriers associated with the costs of attending UA face-to-face in Fayetteville.
2. Attract non-traditional students by offering a degree that working professionals can complete without leaving the workforce to attend courses in-person.
3. Attract high quality students from across the nation by offering the first program with a specialization in Agribusiness Risk Management.
4. Enhance the educational quality of the program by partnering with the Finance Department in the Walton College of Business to gain access to additional Risk Management courses (4b_agbsbs-abrm_report_10282022, 4b_agbsbs-abrm_ellstrand_liu_kemper_collaboration_10282022, 4b_agbsbs-abrm_vision_statement_online_major_in_agricultural_business_10282022, 4b_agbsbs-abrm_concentration_proposal_2022_10282022).

c. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Education and Health Professions, Department of Curriculum and Instruction – DREDBA – Drama Education, Bachelor of Arts in Teaching presented by Chris Goering.

Eliminated one admissions requirement, "and also passing Praxis Core academic subjects test or equivalent tests by meeting or exceeding the Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education cut-off scores."

This matches requirements now put in place by ADE (4c_dredba_report_10282022).

d. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Education and Health Professions, Department of Curriculum and Instruction – EDSTBS-MXED – Educational Studies: Mixed Educational Environments Concentration presented by Rhett Hutchins.

Provide alternative to internship requirement for students transferring into major at advanced hour requirement. We maintain that the internship route is the most desirable for in-field employment, but requirement of three semester internship can delay graduation by 2 years. All students will still complete a minimum of 1 internship based experience.

Change is requested to assist students changing majors into the field with advanced hours accumulation to avoid deferred graduation due to internship requirement. All students will still complete a minimum of 1 internship placement (4d_edstbs-mxed_report_10282022).

e. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Education and Health Professions, Department of Curriculum and Instruction – EDSTBS-PARA – Educational Studies: Para-Professional Transition Concentration presented by Rhett Hutchins.

Clarifications to the admission requirements, catalog descriptions, and listing EDST 2003 as an alternative requirement for program admission.
Clarified required internship courses.

These changes were needed to clarify the admission requirements for prospective students. We have clarified requirements for internships, so students know what to expect prior to admission to the concentration (4e_edstbs-para_report_10282022).

j. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Education and Health Professions, Department of Curriculum and Instruction – SSEDBA – Social Studies Education, Bachelor of Arts in Teaching presented by Chris Goering.

Eliminated the Praxis Core requirement.

No longer required (4j_ssedba_report_10282022).

k. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Education and Health Professions, Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation – PHEDBS – Teaching K-12 Physical Education & Health, Bachelor of Science in Education presented by Matthew Ganio.

The PPHED was reduced from 17 to 9 credit hours. PBHL 1103 was moved to the PPHED. BIOL 1543, 1541L, 2443, and 2441L were removed as program requirements. The eight hours associated with the BIOL requirements were added to the state minimum core. EXSC 3013/EXSC 3353 were removed. The praxis core requirement was removed from learning outcome one. Learning outcome three, students will earn a C or better in the teacher education courses was removed.

Due to a reduction in faculty, PHED has had to adjust course offerings, program requirements, and the processes used to matriculate students. The PPHED credit requirement was reduced to ensure the timely acquisition of students to the major. The biology requirements were removed as pre-requisites because the program is not requiring students to take EXSC 3013/3353. The praxis core assessment was removed from learning outcome one because it is no longer a program requirement. Finally, students are no longer required to earn a C in all PHED teacher education courses. (4k_phedbs_report_10282022).

l. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Education and Health Professions, Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation – PPHED – Teaching K-12 Physical Education & Health (Pre-Teaching K-12 Physical Education & Health) presented by Matthew Ganio.

The PPHED was reduced from 17 to 9 credit hours. The requirements of PHED 2373 and PHED 2023 were changed from "and" to "or". BIOL 1543, 1541L, 2443, and 2441L were removed, and PBHL 1103 was added.

With a reduced number of faculty, it has become increasingly more complex to offer all PHED courses yearly. This means students that are unable to matriculate through the regular course cycle will potentially add an extra year to their program of study. These changes will insure that students can progress through the program and graduate on time (4l_pphed_report_10282022).

m. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Education and Health Professions, Department of Rehabilitation, Human Resources, and Communication Disorders – HRDEBH – Human Resource Development, Bachelor of Human Resource Development presented by Matthew Ganio.

Title and degree name change.

Following market analysis research completed by the Global Campus, the change of the program's name and degree is proposed to more closely align the program with industry nomenclature and the wording potential students are using when searching for Human Resource Development academic programs online. This will make the program more attractive to students and provide a degree name more in line with employer expectations. We are aligning the minor, undergrad, masters, and doctoral names for consistency (4m_hrdebh_report_10282022, 4m_hrdebh_title_change_ltr_of_notification_10282022).

n. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Education and Health Professions, Department of Rehabilitation, Human Resources, and Communication Disorders – HRDE-M – Human Resource Development Minor presented by Matthew Ganio.

o. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Walton College of Business, Department of Management – HRMGBS – Human Resources Management, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration presented by Alan Ellstrand.

Reconfiguration of Human Resources Management concentration to a Human Resources Management major.

Reconfiguration of our organizational leadership concentration to a stand-alone major in Organizational Management and Leadership.
