4.  New Business:

The following program change proposal was approved on the CIM Program Report.  The program change proposals will be forwarded for consideration to the Faculty Senate, meeting scheduled for January 18, 2023.

a. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design, Department of Architecture and Design Dean - ARCH Honors – Architecture School and Departmental Honors Requirements presented by Ethel Goodstein-Murphree.

⦁ In order to be in line with the Honors College and other units on campus, we raised the cumulative GPA for entry into the honors program from a 3.5 to a 3.75.
⦁ To remain in the honors program, students must now maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA instead of a 3.33.

To be in line with other honors entry requirements on campus (4a_arch_honors_report_12162022).

b. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Walton College of Business, Department of Business Dean – WCOB Honors – WCOB College Honors Requirements presented by Alan Ellstrand.

i. Increase the maintenance GPA for students in the Walton College Honors Program from 3.5 to 3.75.

The percentage of students in the Walton College Honors Program has increased in recent years and is above the desired level. Increasing the maintenance GPA will make remaining in the honors program more challenging and ensure that only our best students graduate with honors.

ii. Increased Honors course requirements from 17 to 21 hours for Walton Scholars (students who join the Honors Program on entering the University) and from 9 to 12 hours for Departmental Scholars (students who enter the Honors Program based on academic performance after entering the University.

As additional Honors course options have been added to the Walton College Business Core, the number of required hours to qualify for honors has been increased for both Walton Scholars and Departmental Scholars.

iii. Added ACCT 2023H, FINN 2043H as Business Core honors classes.

ACCT 2023H and FINN 2043H have been added as Business Core honors classes.

iv. Removed the honors foreign language proficiency requirement.

The foreign language proficiency requirement was removed based on benchmarking information that showed that other peer and aspirant business school honors programs do not have a foreign language requirement. After reflecting carefully on available options, the requirement was removed and students will be encouraged to consider a broader range of opportunities (language, study abroad, other courses) to extend their cultural understanding.

v. Added SEVI 4003H to the list of Walton College departmental honors colloquia.

SEVI 4003H was added as the SEVI Department honors colloquium.

vi. Changed University Core to State Minimum Core.

Updated University Core to State Minimum Core to reflect the current terminology (4b_wcob_honors_report_12162022).

c. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Walton College of Business, Department of Supply Chain Management – SCMT-M – Supply Chain Management Minor for Non-Business Students presented by Rodney Thomas II.

Removing two courses from the list of required courses for the SCMT minor for non-business students (SCMT 3443--DELIVER: Transportation and Distribution Management and SOURCE: Procurement and Supply Chain Management) and replacing those with the supply chain introduction course (SCMT 2103--Integrated Supply Chain Management). This change increases the number of elective hours from six to twelve.

Non-business students will benefit by taking the introductory supply chain management class (SCMT 2103--Integrated Supply Chain Management) before taking more advanced supply chain courses. The change also allows for more elective choices for non-business students seeking a minor in supply chain management (4c_scmt-m_report_12162022).

d. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Education and Health Professions, Department of Curriculum and Instruction – CATEBS – Career and Technical Education, Bachelor of Science in Education presented by Matthew Ganio.

We are reactivating the PCATE program code. In doing so, we are cleaning up the language about how students apply to the CATEBS major, what is required, and the process. For example we have specified the application process occurs in CATE 3103.

This change is consistent with the other teacher education programs. The process for application is now more consistent with other teacher education programs (4d_catebs_report_12162022).

e. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Education and Health Professions, Department of Curriculum and Instruction – CATEBS-BUED – Career and Technical Education: Business Education Concentration presented by Matthew Ganio.

i. We are reactivating the PCATE program code and identifying courses that are specified for pre-CATE.

This change is consistent with the other teacher education programs.

ii. WCOB 1033 replaced by BUSI 1033.

WCOB 1033 is now known as BUSI 1033 (4e_catebs-bued_report_12162022).

f. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Education and Health Professions, Department of Curriculum and Instruction – CATEBS-FCSE – Career and Technical Education: Family and Consumer Sciences Education Concentration presented by Matthew Ganio.

We are reactivating the PCATE program code and identifying courses that are specified for pre-CATE.

This change is consistent with the other teacher education programs (4f_catebs-fcse_report_12162022).

g. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Education and Health Professions, Department of Curriculum and Instruction – CATEBS-TEED – Career and Technical Education: Technology Education Concentration presented by Matthew Ganio.

We are reactivating the PCATE program code and identifying courses that are specified for pre-CATE.

h. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Education and Health Professions, Department of Curriculum and Instruction – PCATE – Career and Technical Education (Pre-Career and Technical Education) presented by Matthew Ganio.

Updated and clarified requirements for students in PCATE.

These requirements have not been recently updated, and the program will be using this pre-code again, leading to a required update (4h_pcate_report_12162022).

i. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Education and Health Professions, Department of Education Dean – EDUC Honors – EDUC College Honors Requirements presented by Matthew Ganio.

i. Removal of new freshman admission criteria and redirect to Honors College section of catalog.

Honors College maintains the most updated admission criteria for new freshmen on their catalog pages. Redirecting to that page ensures that individuals will see the most updated requirements, as criteria have been changing across colleges and test-optional admission criteria have been introduced.

ii. Accepting graduate level coursework toward honors course requirements.

This has been approved by the COEHP Honors Council and Honors Program Director on a case-by-case basis in the past. Formalizing policy by adding to catalog.

iii. PBHL 3723H as substitution for Honors Tutorial.

PBHL 3723H is in approval process and has been approved by PBHL program faculty and COEHP Honors Council as an acceptable alternative for the traditional thesis tutorial class. This course will be cross-listed with EXSC 3723H with same objectives and outcomes to better prepare students for conducting research in the field and preparing for research grant applications (4i_educ_honors_report_12162022).

5.   Additional items/Announcements:
