      Offering online

      To better serve online students in Arkansas and beyond. Our hope is to provide professional and technical writing instruction for students looking to finish their degree to get a college degree that will help them communicate via the written word in the workplace. This is also due to repeated demands for many of these courses online and in consultation with Global Campus.

    4. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Walton College of Business, Department of Finance – FINNBS-FENR – Finance: Energy Finance Concentration presented by Karen Boston.

      Pre-assessment exam scores for incoming freshmen over the past several years have been consistently indicating that only 4% of incoming freshmen have sufficient IT competency (coming out of their High School program) for Walton College courses. Therefore, most incoming Walton freshmen are required to take ISYS 1123, Business Application Knowledge in lieu of ISYS 1120, Computer Competency Requirement which currently does not count toward their degree. This change deletes ISYS 1120 as a pre-business requirement and incorporates ISYS 1123 as a pre-business and degree requirement. Additionally, reducing the total number of General Education Electives from 12 hours to 9 hours.

    13. Proposed graduate program change for the Department of Curriculum and Instruction – ETECGC – K-12 Online Teaching Graduate Certificate presented by Derrick Mears.

      ETEC 5423 replaces ETEC 5303 in the program of study
      In program management proposals ETEC 5303 is being replaced with CIED 5363. This change indicates replacing the course with ETEC 5423 for the graduate certificate. (4m_etecgc_report_04172020)

    14. Proposed graduate program change for the Department of Curriculum and Instruction – ETECME – Educational Technology, Master of Education presented by Derrick Mears.

      Changes in requirements from 34 credits to 30 credits for the degree. This consists of:

      -Combining the content of ETEC 5981 and ETEC 5373 into a 3 credit course;

      -Eliminating ESRM 5013 as a required course;

      -ETEC 5303 and ADLL 5183 are being eliminated as elective courses.

      Course titles descriptions changes for ETEC 5373 and ETEC 6223 are being proposed as well through the course management system

      ESRM 5013-In order to more effectively address AECT standards related to research in educational technology settings and maintain practitioner based focus, content related to research methods will be presented in ETEC 6223 as well as embedded into other courses including ETEC 5203, 5213, 5243, 6253. To reflect this change ETEC 6223 will be retitled Research and Strategic Planning in Educational Technology to effectively align content to title.

      ETEC 5373/ETEC 5981-ETEC 5373 will be retitled Designing Websites and EPortfolios and will encompass content presented in the ETEC 5981 ePortfolio course as well as ETEC 5373 Web Design. Portions of the content of ETEC 5373 have been presented in ETEC 5213 related to designing of web pages so this change also prevents the repetition of content.

      ETEC 5303-CIED 5363 is a newer course to the program which was designed to focus upon technology integration in the K-12 setting. As the course has evolved the content in ETEC 5303 and CIED 6363 overlap in many places, so eliminating ETEC 5303 addresses this repetitive content issue.

      ADLL 5183 was listed as an elective in the program but is being replaced as ETEC 5253 which has not been offered in several years. The course is being rebuilt to be offered by the program annually.

      These program changes are also warranted to address staffing changes in the department and recent historical enrollment trends to ensure effective resource management.

    15. Proposed law program change for the School of Law – LAWW Acad Regs – LAWW School Academic Regulations presented by Will Foster.

      Policies adopted by the faculty establish grade average ranges that apply to most courses (2.8 - 3.0 in most first-year courses and 3.0 – 3.2 in Legal Research & Writing I and II, and in most upper-level courses), subject to limited exceptions. The faculty has also adopted a policy that ordinarily, once a final grade (other than an “incomplete”) has been entered for a given class, that grade will be changed only because of mathematical or similar errors in the calculation of the grade.

      The Law faculty have approved this change in the grade distribution policy from a median to a mean, which now includes a grade range for each course.
