  1. The minutes for the April 16, 2021 meeting were approved.
  2. Course Change Proposals:
All course change proposals were approved without opposition. The approved courses are listed on the CIM Course Report created by CourseLeaf and will be forwarded for consideration as appropriate to the:

    • Graduate Council meeting scheduled for August 19, 2021

  3. Old Business:
    None

  4. New Business:
The following program change proposals were approved on the CIM Program Report without opposition. The program changes will be forwarded for consideration as appropriate to the:
    • Faculty Senate, meeting scheduled for September 8, 2021
    • Graduate Council meeting scheduled for August 19, 2021

    1. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Walton College of Business – INEP-M – Innovation and Entrepreneurship Minor for Non-Business Majors presented by Jon Johnson.

New minor in innovation and entrepreneurship for non-business majors in the new SEVI department.

Innovation and entrepreneurship is a distinct discipline and the new minor will benefit non-business students, the University of Arkansas, the state of Arkansas, the discipline and both new and established businesses that face the challenges of competing in a global economy (4a_inep-m_report_08062021).

    2. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of College of Engineering, Department of Engineering Dean – ENGR Acad Regs – ENGR College Academic Regulations presented by Kevin Hall.  Karen Boston moved to amend the item to include the changes noted in the reviewer notes regarding the deletion of the math courses from the catalog copy.

Adding ENGL 1033 to core requirements.

To meet the Gen Ed Requirement 1.2.

Removed MATH 1203C and MATH 1204 from item #2 of the Graduate Requirements. AG

Both of these courses have been inactivated by the Mathematical Sciences Department. AG

Replaced "University Core" language with "State Minimum Core." AG

In response to the changes made related to the General Education curriculum. AG (4b_engracadregs_report_08062021).

    3. Proposed graduate program change for the Department of Curriculum and Instruction – AUSDGM – Autism Spectrum Disorder, Graduate MicroCertificate presented by Ketevan Mamiseishvili.

The 15 hour Graduate Certificate in autism spectrum disorder was discontinued because we believe that offering this 9 hour MicroCertificate in autism is a more appropriate option for students.

A 9 hour MicroCertificate will be better option for students who wish to specialize their learning.

We believe that through this MicroCertificate we can better meet the interests of students outside of education wanting to support individuals with ASD (4c_ausdgm_report_08062021).

    4. Proposed graduate program change for the Department of Curriculum and Instruction – EDLEED – Educational Leadership, Doctor of Education presented by John Pijanowski.

      1. Updating admissions and degree requirements.

      2. Correcting formatting and improving clarity. These changes only affect 15 credit hours of coursework. Two course tables were combined into one course table. In addition the course sequencing was edited (which gives the impression of more substantive changes than actually occurred).

      3. Adding goals and objectives.

The previous admissions information in the catalog pointed towards the website for information. This catalog update reflects what the program has been requiring and simply provides that detail here in the catalog.

The changes are reflective of a longterm program self study conducted in collaboration with the University Council for Educational Administration (the primary EDLE professional association of which the University of Arkansas is an institutional member) and CPED (The Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate). They are designed to improve the student cohort's exposure to experiences that help them navigate rigorous research experiences with site-based problems of practice (4d_edleed_report_08062021, 4d_edleed_proposed_changes_08062021).

    5. Proposed graduate program change for the Department of Curriculum and Instruction – EDLEES – Educational Leadership, Educational Specialist presented by John Pijanowski.

      1. Clarifying admissions requirements.

      1. The program is ensuring that the catalog clearly outlines admissions requirements to align with DESE standards and the protocol that was sent to DESE for approval.

      2. Making minor changes to the degree requirements.

      2. The licensure core is not changing. Proposed changes to courses will help the program better align with new DESE standards for EDLE district license.

      3. Adding program goals and learning outcomes.

      3. These changes were submitted to DESE in February 2021. Updating the catalog will ensure that the degree and admissions requirements in the catalog align with DESE requirements. Application submitted to DESE is uploaded in the attachments as supporting documents. DESE instructed EDLE program to complete Section B of their protocol. This allowed the program to explain in more detail the alignment with DESE required competencies and standards (4e_edlees_report_08062021, 4e_edlees_uaf_district_level_program_proposal_2-26-21_08062021, 4e_edlees_uaf_district_level_appendices_d-j_08062021, 4e_edlees_uaf_district_level_appendices_a-c_08062021, 4e_edlees_eds_updates_sent_to_dese_08062021).

    6. Proposed graduate program change for the Department of Curriculum and Instruction – EDLEME – Educational Leadership, Master of Education presented by John Pijanowski.

      1. Clarifying admission requirements in the catalog to make sure they match what was approved by DESE.

      2. Adding program goals and learning outcomes.

      3. Making minor changes to the foundations courses (removing EDFD class as an option and adding EDLE 5103 School Building-Level Finance course as an option in addition to EDLE 5003 School and Society).

      4. The program has been approved for standardized test exemption. We are clarifying in the catalog that GRE or MAT will only be required for students who do not meet minimum GPA requirements

These changes were submitted to DESE in February 2020 and approved by them in the letter to COEHP Dean received on July 7, 2020. Updating the catalog will ensure that the degree and admissions requirements in the catalog align with DESE requirements. Application submitted to DESE and approval letter are uploaded in the attachments as supporting documents. MED in EDLE leads to Building Level Administrator License. DESE instructed EDLE program to complete Section B of their protocol. This allowed the program to explain in more detail the alignment with DESE required competencies and standards.

These course changes reflect a new field of study in experimetrics (4g_econph_report_08062021).

    8. Proposed graduate program change for the Department of Materials Science and Engineering – MATEMS - Master of Science in Materials Engineering presented by Matthew Leftwich.
