Proposal was approved and will be forwarded for consideration at the January 2013 Faculty Senate meeting. - Proposed undergraduate program change for the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences, Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness - AGBSBS – BSA, Agricultural Business, all concentrations ( Table One, Attachment 1C, Attachment 1C-1, Attachment 1C-2, Attachment 1C-3, Attachment 1C-4, Attachment 1C-5 and Attachments 1C-6) was presented by Lona Robertson and Nick Anthony. The proposal generated considerable discussion and was withdrawn by Lona Robertson for further consideration by the departmental faculty.
- Proposed undergraduate program change for the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences, Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness – AGBS-M – Minor in Agricultural Business ( Table One, Attachment 1D and Attachment 1D-1) was presented by Lona Robertson and Nick Anthony. The proposal requested to add two additional courses as options for required courses in the minor. Three additional courses are being added as controlled electives for the minor and one course is being removed as an option. The proposal was approved and will be forwarded to the January 2013 Faculty Senate meeting for consideration.
- Proposed undergraduate program change for the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences, Department of Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences - CPMGBS – BSA, Crop Management ( Table One, Attachment 1E, Attachment 1E-1, Attachment 1E-2, Attachment 1E-3 and Attachment 1E-4) was presented by Tim Killian. A. The proposal requested to Change the name of the major to Crop Science from Crop Management to attract more students interested in science into the major and change the alpha code from CPMGBS to CPSCBS. Also other changes requested were 1. Change to Chemistry requirement from CHEM 1103, 1101L and CHEM 1123, 1121L to CHEM 1103, 1101L or CHEM 1073, CHEM 1071L. 2. Require either CSES 4143 OR CSES 4133 in the Pest Management section of the CPMG major. This option gives us a Fall/Spring choice for a 4000 level course required for the major. 3. Add Weed ID, Morphology and Ecology (CSES 4133) as a Fall Semester offering in Group C. 4. Change Plant Biology requirement from BIOL 1613/1611L to BIOL 1613/1611L or CSES 1203. 5. Change Physical and Biological Science hours to reflect changes above. 6. Change requirements for Group A from “at least two courses must be from Group A” to “at least six hours must be from Group A”. 7. Add CSES 4303 Bioenergy Feedstock Production and ENSC 3103 Plants and Environmental Restoration to Group B course list. 8. Move HORT 2303 Intro to Turfgrass Management to Group B to retain consist structure of 2-hr courses in Group A, but retain the option to enroll in HORT 2303. 9. Change elective hours to allow for flexibility in choosing from among the Physical and Biological Sciences course options. The proposal was approved and will be forwarded to the January 2013 Faculty Senate meeting for consideration.
- Proposed undergraduate program change for the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences, Department of Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences - ESWSBS – BSA, Environmental Soil and Water Science ( Table One, Attachment 1F, Attachment 1F-1, Attachment 1F-2 and 1F-3) was presented by Tim Killian and Nick Anthony. ESWS degree plan changes to meet ACT 747 requirement of 120 credit hours.
- Change plant science requirement from “CSES 1203 or BIOL 1613/1611L” to “CSES 1203”. (BIOL 1613/1611L will be an acceptable substitution.) This change clarifies that the basic sciences section is 35 rather than 35 or 36 credit hours, but does not eliminate the ability of students to transfer in BIOL 1613/1611L.
- Change the requirement for the second water science course from options of 3-4 credit hours to options that are 3 credit hours. BIOL 4814 will be removed as an option. This change alters departmental requirements from 29-31 to 29-30.
- To allow flexibility in choices among courses in the Natural Resources core (12 hours are required) and retain the degree emphasis on science, the courses will be distributed among 2 groups (“Environmental Studies” and “Environmental Science”) and students will choose 12 hours total with a maximum of 6 hours allowed in Environmental Studies.
- Elective hours will be changed so that the total curriculum is 120 hours. The range of credit hours available to a student will depend upon course selections throughout the requirements in the degree plan and is 16-17 credit hours. This leaves enough credit hours for a student to pursue minors, special problems, honors credits, and/or a selection of courses of general interest. Two popular minors for ESWS majors are Sustainability and Wildlife Habitat. With proper course selections, most ESWS students obtain those minors with nine credit hours in addition to the major (Sustainability) and 11 additional credit hours (Wildlife Habitat) because of course overlap with the ESWS major.
- Proposed undergraduate program change for the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences, Department of Animal Sciences - ANSCBS – BSA, Animal Science ( Table One, Attachment 1G, Attachment 1G-1, Attachment 1G-2 and Attachment 1G-3) was presented by Lona Robertson and Nick Anthony. The proposal requested was due to changes in the Bumpers College Curriculum and mandated requirements of Arkansas ACT 747. The departmental faculty has determined that the degree program and students in the program will be best served by reducing the number of general electives in the program by 4 hours. This option will still allow student opportunity to obtain a minor within the 120 total credit hour limit and will also allow pre-professional school students to meet professional school admission requirements within the 120 hour limit. Also the proposal requested to add ANSC 4303 to the list of Animal Science Electives. The proposal was approved and will be forwarded to the January 2013Faculty Senate meeting for consideration.

The proposal requested to change total credit hours from 124 to 120 by 1) changing HESC 3604 requirement to HESC 3603 (and eliminating the HESC 3601 Lab requirement; 2) eliminating 3 hours of elective credit. Accreditation requirements do not currently accommodate any other elimination or combination of course requirements, so elective hours must be reduced (from 12-22 to 9-19). Statement added to catalog that "students majoring in Food, Human Nutrition and Hospitality with a concentration in Dietetics are not eligible for the General Nutrition minor due to course duplication." The proposal was approved and will be forwarded to the January 2013 Faculty Senate meeting for consideration.

- Proposed undergraduate program change for the Graduate School, Interdisciplinary Programs – MEPH-M – Minor in Microelectronics-Photonics ( Table Three, Attachment 3A) was presented by Pat Koski. These changes do not change any requirements of the MEPH undergraduate minor (required courses or total hours for the minor). The changes are proposed to accomplish eight goals: First, add courses to the pre-approved list that have been approved for an individual student's curriculum by the MEPH administration since the minor program began. (2) Add courses to the pre-approved list that have been approved by MEPH faculty members from those departments as appropriate to the minor. (3) Change the approval of a student's MEPH minor courses from "by the micro-EP Program and by the course instructor" to "by the Micro-EP minor Director and by the student's undergraduate degree department's advisor". (4) Add wording to match the procedures already established with partner departments to require indication by the department to its student of which courses that he or she chooses for the MEPH minor will also be allowed as part of that student's undergraduate curriculum to meet the departmental bachelor's degree requirements. (5) Add wording that explicitly states that graduate courses taken out of career, if approved by the departmental undergraduate advisor, may be utilized to fulfill the course requirements of this minor.
