3. Old Business:

None.

4.  New Business:

The following program change proposals were approved on the CIM Program Report.  The program change proposals will be forwarded for consideration to the Faculty Senate, meeting scheduled for September 13, 2023.

a. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Walton College of Business, Department of Management – MGMTBS – Management, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration presented by Alan Ellstrand.

The Management, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration included two concentration areas: students could select a concentration in Human Resources Management or Organizational Leadership. Faculty in the Management Department determined that students needed a deeper and broader curriculum to support these disciplines and better prepare students for employment in these areas. As a result, the Management Department is proposing that the current Management, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree be replaced with two separate degree programs in Human Resources Management and Organizational Management and Leadership (4a_mgmtbs_report_08042023, 4a_mgmtbs_deletion_ltr_of_notification_rev_bot_08042023).

b. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Walton College of Business, Department of Management – MGMTBS-HRMG - Management: Human Resource Management Concentration presented by Alan Ellstrand.

After benchmarking against other academic programs, the faculty in the Department of Management determined that the Management Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree Human Resource Management Concentration program curriculum did not have the depth or breath necessary to best prepare our students for careers in Human Resources Management. Thus, a new Human Resources Management Degree program has been approved that includes a greater focus on Human Resources Management while offering a broader array of classes from supporting fields to provide a more well-rounded curriculum to prepare students for careers in Human Resources Management (4b_mgmtbs-hrmg_report_08042023).

c. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Walton College of Business, Department of Management – MGMTBS-OLMG - Management: Organizational Leadership Concentration presented by Alan Ellstrand.

After benchmarking against other academic programs the faculty in the Department of Management determined that the Management Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree Organizational Management and Leadership Concentration program curriculum did not have the depth or breath necessary to best prepare our students for careers in Human Resources Management. Thus, a new Organizational Management and Leadership Degree program has been approved that includes a greater focus on Human Resources Management while offering a broader array of classes from supporting fields to provide a more well rounded curriculum to better prepare students for careers in Organizational Management and Leadership (4c_mgmtbs-olmg_report_08042023).

d. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Walton College of Business, Department of Marketing – RETLBS – Retail, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration presented by Alan Ellstrand.

The Retail, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree was never very popular with our students. Between 2020 and 2022 we awarded an average of 2.3 Retail, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degrees annually. Students with a Retail Major have declined from 23 in 2020 to five today. Attempts have been made to generate greater interest in the Retail, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree, but these efforts have not been successful. The Retail, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree appeared on the ADHE program viability list in fall 2022. As a result, we are proposing to delete the Retail, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree program (4d_retlbs_report_08042023, 4d_retlbs_deletion_ltr_of_notification_rev_bot_08042023).

5. Additional items/Announcements:

⦁ Endorsement Non-Degree Special Education – Minor Revisions (5_sped_endorsement_non-degree_minor_revision_section_c_and_coversheet_08042023).

⦁ Suggestion was made by the Chair to consider moving the August meeting back to the end of the month since the committee no longer reviews graduate course and program proposals. Barring any concern in doing so from the Provost’s Office, this will be an agenda item for consideration at the September meeting.

⦁ The Director of Curriculum Review and Program Assessment is working to identify the remaining committee members and will send out calendar invitations for the rest of the semester (minus the Teams link) once the member listing is updated.

Next Meeting: September 22, 2023 (agenda deadline is September 8, 2023).

Meeting adjourned at 2:43 p.m.
