All course change proposals were approved without opposition. The approved courses are listed on the CIM Course Report created by CourseLeaf and will be forwarded for consideration to the Faculty Senate, meeting scheduled for February 8, 2023.

3. Old Business:

None.

4.  New Business:

The following program change proposals were approved on the CIM Program Report.  The program change proposals will be forwarded for consideration to the Faculty Senate, meeting scheduled for February 8, 2023.

a. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food, and Life Sciences, Department of Agri Food and Life Sciences Dean – AFLS Acad Regs – AFLS College Academic Regulations presented by Lona Robertson.

i. Removing #4 statement and changing the procedure for submitting petitions for transfer credit from the Dean's office to the Registrar's office.

The procedure for requesting transfer credit for self-paced (correspondence) and courses that are not currently listed in the transfer equivalency guide has changed and is handled through the Registrar's office so this change is needed to update the "Rules Applying to Course Work Used for Degree Credit".

ii. Changing minimum hours of residency requirement for Bachelor of Science in Human Environmental Science from 30 to 40.

Per Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board (AHECB) Policy 5.11, successful completion of a bachelor's degree requires a minimum of 40 semester hours of upper-level courses. The proposed change is being submitted to ensure that the Bachelor of Science in Human Environmental Science degree is compliant with this requirement (4a_afls_acad_regs_report_01272023).

b. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food, and Life Sciences, Department of Agricultural Education, Communication and Technology - AECTBS-AGED – Agricultural Education, Communication & Technology: Agricultural Education Concentration presented by Jeff Miller.

⦁ Remove AGED 4113 - Undergraduate Researchers Improving Student Experience from degree plan.
⦁ Remove AGED 3111 - Student Management from degree plan.
⦁ Changed AGED 4211 - Teachers as Professionals from one hour credit to AGED 4213 three hour credit.
⦁ Change AGED 4231 - Program Development from one hour credit to AGED 4233 three hour credit. This course will change from being offered during the last semester in the degree plan to the spring semester of the junior year. Other electives will be moved to accommodate this change and balance semester credit hours.
⦁ 4 credit hours will be removed (AGED 4113 & AGED 3111) while 4 credit hours will be added in expanded courses (2 in AGED 4213 & 2 in AGED 4233) for a net zero change in credits for the degree plan.

Changes to the AGED concentration degree plan are necessary in order to provide our students with a more rounded education in relation to holistically managing an agricultural education program. Changes would allow additional instruction in the areas of managing youth organizations and supervising experiential learning outside of a classroom through an expanded AGED 4233 Program Development course. These are areas in which recent graduates have indicated we need to provide additional instruction. The removal of the AGED 4113 URISE course is necessary because it does not teach skills that are highly sought after by students in our program. The removal of the AGED 3111 Student Management course is necessary because it is repetitive in the concepts taught. Most of the competencies taught in AGED 3111 are also taught in other AGED courses. Any AGED 3111 not covered in other courses can be integrated in the expanded AGED 4213 Teachers as Professionals course. Teachers as Professionals should be expanded to 3 hours to balance credits in the last semester and to provide additional contact time to teach competencies in this area. Currently, the AGED program needs improvement in teacher professionalism TESS standards. 4 credits removed from AGED 4113 and AGED 3111 will be replaced with 4 credits by expanding AGED 4231 to 4233 and AGED 4211 to 4213, adding 2 hours for each course (4b_aectbs-aged_report_01272023, 4b_aectbs-aged_educator_licensure_curriculum_revision_coversheet_and_section_c_01272023).

c. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food, and Life Sciences, Department of Animal Science – ANSCBS – Animal Science, Bachelor of Science in Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences presented by Ken Coffey.

We want to add CHEM 1103/01L as a potential option for our students in the Chemical and Physical Sciences category along with CHEM 1073/1071L. We are adding CHEM 1123/1121L as an option in Chemical and Physical sciences section.

We have a number of students transfer in CHEM 1103/01L and a number of students who change their concentration from the Pre-professional to the Animal Enterprises concentration after taking CHEM 1103/01L. By requiring either CHEM 1073/71L or CHEM 1123/21L we are forcing a number of our students to take an extra chemistry course that they may not need depending on their career path (4c_anscbs_report_01272023).

d. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food, and Life Sciences, Department of Animal Science – ANSCBS-ANET – Animal Science: Animal Enterprise Concentration presented by Ken Coffey.

Add ANSC 3761L – this category requires 2 hours so 3761 should be repeated once to fulfill the 2-hour requirement
Change ANSC 4552 to ANSC 4553 – this course is in the approval process
Change total hours to 21.

The department voted to allow CHEM 1103/01L to accommodate students who do not need extra chemistry courses or who transferred in CHEM 1 but not CHEM 2 and are not going to professional school.
ANSC 3761L is a course that is in the system and was added as options in the degree programs.
ANSC 4552 is currently being changed to ANSC 4553 to add a lab section. The modifications to the degree programs are to get this change into our program documentation (4d_anscbs-anet_report_01272023).

e. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food, and Life Sciences, Department of Animal Science – ANSCBS-EQSC – Animal Science: Equine Systems Concentration presented by Ken Coffey.

Add ANSC 3761L to the list of classes to select 10 hours from the following.
Change ANSC 4552 to 4553 in the list of classes to select 10 hours from the following.

The modifications to the degree programs are to get this change into our program documentation (4e_anscbs-eqsc_report_01272023).

f. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food, and Life Sciences, Department of Animal Science – ANSCBS-PPRF – Animal Science: Pre-Professional Science Concentration presented by Ken Coffey.

Changes to semester plan to reflect current course semester offerings.

Some courses were listed in semesters in which they were not offered (4f_anscbs-pprf_report_01272023).

g. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food, and Life Sciences, School of Human Environmental Sciences – AMPD-M – AMPD Global Experience Minor presented by Lance Cheramie.

Adding AMPD Global Experience minor.

The Apparel Merchandising and Product Development Program (AMPD) is creating a study abroad experience specifically designed for students studying at the Rome Center and interested in the apparel business. This experience will enhance the learning environment and cultural awareness of the global apparel industry. Students will immerse in the Italian culture, hailed as the birthplace for luxury fashion goods. Students will take courses that are supplemental to UAF AMPD courses (4g_ampd-m_report_01272023, 4g_23-24_ampd-m_vlm_lma_01272023, 4g_ampd_italy_study_abroad_proposal_2022_lma_01272023).

h. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Honors College – HNRS Admission Reqs – Honors College Admission Requirements presented by John Treat.

Changing high-school GPA requirement for new freshmen from 3.5 to 3.75 for AFLS, ARCH, and COEHP.

This brings all college honors programs to a uniform 3.75 high-school GPA requirement. The change has been approved by the three colleges' honors programs and is supported by the Honors College. This change would only have affected 12 students last year (4h_hnrs_admission_reqs_report_01272023).

i. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Walton College of Business, Department of Business Dean – NPST-M – Nonprofit Studies Minor presented by Alan Ellstrand.

1. Change the name to Nonprofit Studies Minor (no longer for Business Majors)
2. Reduce required hours from 6 to 3.
3. Change structure to organize classes in two tiers--up to 12 hours may be selected from Tier 1 options (most relevant classes) and as many as 6 hours may be selected from Tier 2 (additional choices).
4. Course options were updated to remove some classes no longer offered or deemed to be less relevant and new/more relevant classes were added as options.

The name of the minor was changed to Nonprofit Studies Minor--no longer for Business Majors to help attract more students from around campus. The minor required updating--courses no longer offered were removed and new courses were added. The structure was changed to guide students to select the most relevant classes in Tier 1 and allow them to make some additional choices in Tier 2 (4i_npst-m_report_01272023).
