    1. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food, and Life Sciences, Department of Poultry Science – POSCBS – Poultry Science, Bachelor of Science in Agri Food & Life Sciences presented by Casey Owens.

POSCBS was slightly reconfigured (minor change); addition of new courses (ie., POSC 2413/2411L, POSC 3033); addition of 2 concentrations.

This reflects the general education learning outcome requirements and addition of proposed/modified course(s).
The concentrations will focus on courses to prepare students for either industry careers or pre-professional schools (e.g., vet school). The concentrations replace the discipline related electives in previous program and thus, the programs provide better definition of classes that will prepare them for their future.

    5. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Education and Health Professions, Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation – PHEDBS - Teaching K-12 Physical Education & Health, Bachelor of Science in Education presented by Paul Calleja.

Revised formatting of the eight semester degree plan, inserting General Education language on behalf of the college.
To provide consistency with the General Education curriculum language.

A Pre-PHED major was added (See PPHED). The language used was modified to address the addition of the pre-major.
PHED students have struggled to complete program pre-requisites and maintain the required GPA prior to enrolling in the upper level teacher education courses. This change will improve the matriculation of students. In addition, it will also streamline the student enrollment process as they enter their upper level courses.

    6. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Education and Health Professions, Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation – PPHED - Teaching K-12 Physical Education & Health presented by Paul Calleja.

A pre-major is being added to the PHEDBS (Teaching K-12 Physical Education and Health) program. Undergraduate students will be required to enroll in the Pre-PHED (Pre-Teaching K-12 Physical Education and Health) and complete the associated courses and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA prior to being admitted to the PHED major.

    7. Proposed graduate program change for the Department of Curriculum and Instruction – CIEDES – Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Specialist presented by Jason Endacott.

The admission requirements have been changed to only require the GRE for applicants with a GPA below 3.5 in prior graduate work. To take a more holistic approach, the admissions committee will rely on educational experience, academic qualifications, writing sample, and quality of fit between the student and the Ed.S. program.

The Ed.S. is a practitioner degree and our applicants must have already earned a Master's degree with a GPA over 3.25. By setting a cutoff at 3.5, we are expecting applicants to have completed prior academic work with a high level of achievement. This is more than sufficient, when considered alongside the other data points, for admission to the Ed.S

    8. Proposed graduate program change for the Department of Curriculum and Instruction – CIEDME – Curriculum and Instruction, Master of Education presented by Jason Endacott.

Courses were updated to reflect current offerings in CIED and ESRM. Some course numbers and titles were out of date. Other courses were no longer offered and were replaced by courses that are offered and taught regularly. The specific requirements for the Interest Area courses were replaced with a 9 hour minimum required block of courses approved by the faculty advisory committee. I also added two Course of Study grids for Odd and Even year matriculation. Finally, the admission criteria omits the GRE in favor of a process based on prior experience and academic achievement.

This program no longer existed in reality as it was represented on paper. It was far too specific when it was created and relied upon classes that were rarely, if ever, taught. All of the courses in this current iteration of the program are already offered and taught on a regular basis. Adding flexibility to the Interest Area allows students to supplement the core offerings with specific interest areas, while also allowing for the variability of course offerings that is typical for these areas.

Added the Cybersecurity Management concentration and the associated 15 hours required/electives.

To provide a Cybersecurity Management concentration in the MIS program for students interested in helping organizations assess and detect threats while securing and protecting data and data-driven systems.

Dedicated CIM blocks were administratively created for all four currently existing concentrations. Department will submit a separate CIM block for Cybersecurity Management concentration.

In order to more effectively manage curriculum, each concentration should have a dedicated CIM block.(4j_insymi_report_10232020)

    13. Proposed graduate program change for the Department of Rehabilitation, Human Resources, and Communication Disorders – HIEDME– Higher Education, Master of Education presented by Michael Hevel.

Increase overall program hours from 33 to 36, revise higher education core curriculum by removing Overview and Management from the core and adding Diversity, and updating program goals and learning outcomes. We also reformatted and updated the catalog description to add clarity and consistency in the language. The overall changes to the program only add up to 12 credit hours - increasing degree by 3 credit hours; dropping Overview and Management from core courses; and adding Diversity to core courses).

All of these changes are in response to the external program review conducted in 2018-2019. The program also conducted benchmarking analysis to evaluate the number of total hours required for a master's degree in higher education. These changes will ensure that the program curriculum and degree requirements align better with peer institutions.

    16. Proposed graduate program change for the School of Art – DCFMDES – Design for Collaborative Futures, Master of Design presented by Ali Pace.

Creating a new master's degree in graphic design.

The new program has been mandated by a portion of an annual endowment from the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation with additional support for two endowed faculty. This endowment will allocate funds for faculty and student research, travel, visiting designers, and materials/technology to run the program. Beginning in the fall of 2020, five graphic design tenure/tenure-track faculty will be in place with one visiting assistant professor, one senior instructor of practice with four additional projected faculty hires supported by the endowment over the next few years as listed below.

A $120 million endowment by the Walton Family Charitable Trust Foundation was awarded to the School of Art to establish a graduate degree in design considering that there is no stand-alone terminal degree in design in the state of Arkansas. In the formulation of the Master of Design (MDES) degree, a rigorous academic component synonymous with a Research One university and the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, which the School of Art resides was realized. The degree equally advances an academic, as well as social emphasis through the endowment embracing a strong emphasis on diversity, inclusion, community, and interdisciplinary scholarship.

Within the research and construction stage of the degree, the program solicited national design educators as virtual and on-campus consultants to provide for additional insight and scholarship. Regarding nomenclature, a consensus among both consultants and faculty, as it pertains to both current and future lenses of the professional and academic arenas, that "Master of Design" or "MDes" is the appropriate degree title.
