Department of English, ENGLBA-CRWR – English/Creative Writing Concentration was presented
by Jim Gigantino.
WLIT 1123 is already required for the English B.A. and for the English and Journalism combined B.A. Both the Department of English and the Department of Journalism have long allowed students to substitute a WLIT course numbered 3000 or higher, or a literature course numbered 3000 or higher in the World Languages and Literatures Department, for the WLIT 1123 requirement when desired, but although this allowed substitution is in the portion of the catalog that describes the English and Journalism combined B.A., it never got put into the part of the catalog that describes the requirements for the English B.A. Any WLIT or world literature course at the 3000- or 4000-level is a more difficult, more in-depth version of what is taught in WLIT 1123, so no student can be hurt by our allowing that substitution, and many students may be motivated to take these more challenging courses if they meet the requirement (4e_ENGLBA-CRWR Report).
- Proposed undergraduate program for the Walton College of Business, Department of Economics,
INTBBB – International Business, Bachelor of Science in International Business presented
by Chair Durdik.
Clarify language on International Business requirements. Changed phrase "Other courses may fulfill..." to "Other 3000/4000 level courses may fulfill..." (4f_INTBBB Report).
- Proposed undergraduate program for the College of Engineering, Department of Engineering
Dean, ENGR Acad Regs – ENGR College Academic Regulations presented by Norm Dennis.
Some of these course were being used for degree credit in the BA - Computer Science program. It has been the intent of the college for some _me that these courses are considered remedial and should not count toward a degree in any program in the college of engineering (4g_ENGR College Academic Regulations Report).

Organizing for Change (OMGT 5873) is no longer an optional core course. It has been removed from the core course list and replaced with OMGT 5623.
The belief of the program faculty is that OMGT 5623 is too important to the program to have it listed as an optional core course (4k_OPMGMS Report).
- Proposed graduate program change for the Department of Physics, PHYSPH – Physics Doctor
of Philosophy was presented by Jim Gigantino.
- The physics faculty recently voted to replace our course-based PhD candidacy exam with a research-based candidacy exam. The department believes this will help us recruit more students into our program, help us retain more students in our program, and allow our students to more quickly get involved in research.
- The physics faculty recently voted to reduce the number of required courses. The department believes this will allow our students to more quickly get involved in research.
- The physics faculty are also requesting to delete a concentration. The concentration does not exist in this software tool (Program Management). However, the registrar's office informed us that ADHE has this concentration on file. The concentration name is: PhD in Physics with a Concentration in Space and Planetary Sciences. The concentration has never had a student in the program.
- Current and future students will be given the opportunity to have Astrophysics, Biophysics,
or Neuroscience concentration printed on their transcript, which will help them meet
specific job requirements. In addition, these concentrations should allow the physics
department to attract more students interested in Astrophysics, Biophysics, and Neuroscience
to our PhD program (4l_PHYSPH Report, 4l_PHYSPH – Reconfig-Ltr of Notification.docx, 4l_PHYSPH-SPAC – Deletion – Ltr of Notification.docx, 4l_PHYSPH – Employer Needs Surveys.pdf).
