    1. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design – Department of Architecture and Design Dean – ARCH Honors – Architecture School and Departmental Honors Requirements was presented by Ethel Goodstein-Murphree.

The Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design wishes to have ONE honors track instead of three - on each for the individual departments. This will make it so much easier to advise with all three departments and faculty on the same page. We want one location (one school policy) to identify our honors program (4a_ARCH Honors Report).

    2. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design – Department of Interior Design – IDES Honors – Interior Design Departmental Honors Requirements was presented by Ethel Goodstein-Murphree.

We are forming one overall honors program for the entire school. Departmental requirements will no longer exist. All FJSOA+D students will follow the same requirements. This will make the honors program easier to advise and much more transparent (4b_IDES Honors Report).

    3. Proposed undergraduate program change for the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design – Department of Landscape Architecture – LARC Honors – Landscape Architecture Departmental Honors Requirements was presented by Ethel Goodstein-Murphree.

We are forming one overall honors program for the entire school. Departmental requirements will no longer exist. All FJSOA+D students will follow the same requirements. This will make the honors program easier to advise and much more transparent (4c_LARC Honors Report).

    4. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Education and Health Professions – Department of Curriculum and Instruction – EDSTBS – Educational Studies, Bachelor of Science in Education was presented by Fran Hagstrom.

There was a discrepancy between two contradictory statements in the footnotes for the program plan and the eight-semester plan regarding upper level elective approval. The contradictory statements were that upper level electives needed to be COEHP courses or have program advisor approval OR that electives needed to be 3000/4000 level electives. Both were present during 2016-2017 major program revision. The footnotes have been edited to read "3000/4000 level electives" as intended by the revisions (4d_EDSTBS Report).

    5. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Education and Health Professions – Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation – KINSBS-PEWL- Kinesiology K-12 Teaching Physical Education, Wellness & Leisure Concentration was presented by Fran Hagstrom.

The pedagogy faculty has voted to move The School Health Program (PHED 3573) class from the listing of pedagogical classes as part of the admission process into teacher education into the listing of regularly required courses for the degree program. The pedagogy class listing are classes that are gate checked with a certain grade point average, passing of the Praxis Core (all three parts) and PHED 1003 as prerequisites. The PHED faculty feel It is important to have enough upper division classes that are not a part of the admission process available for students; particularly transfer students and those students that may just be barely below the standard of admission to teacher education and need another semester to complete that process. The prerequisite for this class; The School Health Program (PHED 3573) is PBHL 1103 (Personal Health and Safety). It always has been the prerequisite and did not change when we inadvertently put the classes in the list of pedagogical class. This does not change the program in any way as to classes required or required hours for the degree. It is just placing the class in a different category in the curriculum (4e_KINSBS-PEWL Report, 4e_PHED 3573 Syllabus Fall 2016.doc).

    6. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Engineering – Department of Industrial Engineering – INEGBS – Industrial Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering was presented by Manuel Rossetti.

Replaced INEG 4904 in 4th year Spring with INEG 4911 4th year fall and INEG 4923 4th year Spring. This splits our single senior design course into a two course sequence (4f_INEGBS Report).

    7. Proposed graduate program change for the Department of Curriculum and Instruction – EDLEES – Educational Leadership, Educational Specialist was presented by Ed Bengtson.

We are proposing to add a second test as an alternative to the GRE for admission to the program. This requirement would exempt the program from the GRE requirement at the level of the Graduate School admissions office and would impose either the GRE or SLLA as a program requirement for admission consideration. The School Leadership Licensure Assessment (SLLA) is superior to the GRE in relation to the measurement of program degree applicants' potential for success in the EDLE Education Specialist degree. The SLLA is a national standardized test that is recognized as the equivalent to a Praxis exam for educational leadership (4g_EDLEES Report).

  5. Announcement:

McAllister Piano Area of Study (5_The Emily J. and J.W. McAllister Piano Area of Study Report).
