- Proposed undergraduate program change for the Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food, and
Life Sciences, Department of Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences – NRMT-M, Natural
Resources Management Minor was presented by Mary Savin.
This revision to the ESWS minor is coincident with the deletion of the Wildlife Habitat (WLHA) minor, both housed in the Crop, Soil, and Environmental Sciences (CSES) Department. In consolidating the two minors, and revising ESWS minor, we can create one minor that can be supported with existing courses and encompasses the flexibility that appeals to students from diverse majors with interests in environmental resource management (Table One, 4a_NRMT-M – Reconfig – Ltr of Notification.docx, 4a_nat res minor 2015 revised Feb29 2016.docx).
- Proposed undergraduate program change for the Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food, and
Life sciences, Department of Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences – SOIL-M, Soil Science
Minor was presented by Mary Savin.
Proposing a new minor in Soil Science. The goal of the Soil Science Minor is to prepare students to be component soil scientists to pursue soil science certification if so desired. Documentation describing the requirements (including the 15 academic credit hours of soil science courses) necessary to become a Certified Professional Soil Scientist through the Soil Science Society of America program can be found at https://www.soils.org/files/certifications/cpss-cpsc/cpss-and-cpsc-policies-procedures-and-standards.pdf (Table One, 4b_SOIL-M – New Minor – Ltr of Notification.docx, 4b_proposed SOIL SCIENCE minor checksheet_2016 Feb1.docx).
- Proposed undergraduate program change for the Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food, and
Life Sciences, Department of Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences – WLHA-M, Wildlife
Habitat Minor was presented by Mary Savin.
One of four main required courses that is outside the home department will no longer be supported due to impending retirement (BIOL 4734 Wildlife Management Techniques). We can consolidate with the ESWS minor to delete the WLHA minor and revise the ESWS minor to create one minor in Natural Resources Management with enough flexibility that should appeal to students with interest in wildlife habitat and environmental resource management that can be well supported with existing courses (Table One, 4c_WLHA-M – Deletion – Ltr of Notification.docx).
