Chair Lona Robertson called the meeting to order at 2:30 p.m.

 

1. The minutes for the April 22, 2022 meeting were approved.


2. Course Change Proposals: 

No course change proposals were submitted.


3. Old Business:  
⦁ Transition from UCPC to Undergraduate Council
Alice Griffin reviewed the revised membership list including additional members for the Fay Jones School of Architecture & Design and the Honors College.  The Graduate Council and the School of Law have transitioned to non-voting members.
The “ucpc.uark.edu” website has also been converted to ugrdcouncil.uark.edu.


4.  New Business:  

The following program change proposal was approved on the CIM Program Report.  The program change will be forwarded for consideration to the Faculty Senate schedule for September 14, 2022.


a. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Engineering, Department of Data Science – DTSCBS-MIDA – Data Science: Music Industry Data Analytics Concentration presented by Manuel Rossetti.

This is a request to add an additional concentration, the Music Industry Data Analytics (MIDA) concentration to the Data Science program.

The Department of Music and Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences have identified the need and this presents an opportunity for us to be a leader in this field. Target companies for hiring these students include Apple Music, Amazon, Netflix, Spotify, and streaming intermediaries (4a_dtscbs-mida_report_08052022).

g. Changes to Test Credit (AP, IB, CLEP, etc.) – Policy Change - Minimum Score for Credit for ARTS 1013, ARTS 1313, and ARTS 1323.

 

h. Update to AP Courses to Align with State Policy – Alice Griffin explained that scores for a number of AP courses were changed to align with current state policy.  Specific courses include:  Latin: Virgil, Physics C: E&M, Physics C: M, Spanish Literature, Studio Art: Drawing, Studio Art, 2D Design, Studio Art: 3D Design, and Computer Science A.
