Chair Jeannine Durdik called the meeting to order at 2:30 p.m.

  1. The minutes for the February 23, 2018 meeting were approved.

  2. Course Change Proposals:
    All course change proposals were approved without opposition. The approved courses are listed on the CIM Course Report created by CourseLeaf and will be forwarded for consideration as appropriate to the:
    • Faculty Senate, meeting scheduled for April 11, 2018
    • Graduate Council meeting scheduled for April 19, 2018

  4. New Business:
    The following program change proposals were approved on the CIM Program Report without opposition. The program changes will be forwarded for consideration as appropriate to the:
    • Faculty Senate, meeting scheduled for April 11, 2018
    • Graduate Council meeting scheduled for April 19, 2018

    1. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Education and Health Professions, Department of Education Dean – EDUC Acad Regs – EDUC College Academic Regulations was presented by Ketevan Mamiseishvili.

      Removed information limiting College Honor Roll to top 10% to align with new procedure for awarding Deans List (4a_educacadregs_report03162018).

    2. Proposed graduate program change for the Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation, KINSMS-ADMS, Kinesiology, Adapted Movement Science Concentration was presented by Steve Dittmore.

      Change statistics requirement to be ESRM 5393 or ESRM 6403; Changed electives to 9-12 credits

      Intent always was students would take either ESRM 5393 or ESRM 6403. Students also take 9-12 credits of electives (4b_kinsms-adms_report03162018).

    3. Proposed graduate program change for the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing, NURSDP-CNST – Nursing Adult-Geriatric Clinical Nurse Specialist Concentration was presented by Martha Butler.

      Eliminate concentration. There have been no students in the concentration for more than two years, and there has been a decline in the perceived need for graduates with this preparation (4c_nursdp-cnst_report03162018, 4c_nursdp-cnst_ltrofnotif 03162018).

  5. Additional items/Announcements:
    • General Education Curriculum Proposal was presented by Laurence Hare. Pat Koski moved and Manuel Rossetti seconded to approve the proposal. After a lengthy discussion, Pat Koski moved and Lona Robertson seconded to amend the motion to approve only the learning outcomes. The discussion continued. 

    • Manuel Rossetti moved and Pat Koski seconded to approve the learning indicators with minor edits. After further debate, Manuel Rossetti withdrew the motion.

    • Manuel Rossetti moved and Pat Koski seconded to approve the proposal and recommend the General Education Core Curriculum Committee meet with each college’s curriculum committee for review and recommendations prior to the May Faculty Senate meeting. In addition, the committee should return in a few months to UCPC and provide an update on the implementation plan. The motion passed (5_proposed_gened_vs_statecore5_ug_gened_final_draft_3-13-18).
