Norm Dennis called the meeting to order at 2:30 p.m.
- The minutes for the March 17, 2017 meeting were approved.
- Course Change Proposals:
Norm Dennis requested that CHEM 5483 be removed from the agenda in order for the syllabus to be revised to clarify the student learning outcomes. All other course change proposals were approved without opposition. The approved courses are listed on the CIM Course Report created by CourseLeaf and will be forwarded for consideration as appropriate to the:- Faculty Senate, meeting scheduled for May 3, 2017
- Graduate Council meeting scheduled for May 18, 2017

The following program change proposals were approved (items "a," "c," and "d") on the CIM Program Report without opposition. These program changes will be forwarded for consideration as appropriate to the:- Faculty Senate, meeting scheduled for May 3, 2017

- Proposed undergraduate program change for the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences,
Department of Mathematical Sciences– MATHBA – Mathematics, Bachelor of Arts was presented
by Jeannine Durdik.
We propose to allow CSCE 4133 (Algorithms) to count as an elective to fulfill the 12 semester hours of 3000+ MATH/STAT (including MATH 2584). (4a_MATHBA Report)
- Proposed undergraduate program change for the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences,
Department of Mathematical Sciences – STAT-M – Statistics Minor was presented by Jeannine
Durdik.
We recently cross-listed STAT 3013 as MATH 3013 and so with the current language, this course does not count toward the minor. (4b_STAT-M Report)
A motion was made by Patricia Koski and seconded by Jennie Popp to table the request in order for the department to provide a clearer description on what changes were being made to the program. The committee also approved the director of curriculum review to roll the program change back to the ARSC Dean in order to reach out to the department and edit the request. The motion was approved.
- Proposed undergraduate program change for the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences,
Department of Physics - PHYSBS-BIPH - Physics Biophysics Concentration was presented
by Jeannine Durdik.
Changing MATH 4423 to MATH 3083 in 8-semester plans to align our program with new math minor requirements. MATH 3083 is needed for an upper level physics course - Intro to Quantum Mechanics (PHYS 4073). (4c_PHYSBS-BIPH Report).
- Proposed graduate program change for the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design,
DSGNMDS – Design Studies, Master of Design Studies was presented by Ethel Goodstein-Murphree.
This graduate level degree has been crafted to provide for unique concentrations within an overarching structure of a Master of Design Studies. Not only is this degree unique to Arkansas and to the region but it also reflects the growing movement toward interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary practice utilizing a cost-effective structure and broad appeal to practitioners seeking advanced study. - Nominations for Chair – Jeannine Durdik was elected to serve as chair for the 2017-2019
term.
- Meeting calendar changes (5b_UCPC Meeting Dates – 2017-2018) – The committee approved the changes to the 2017-2018 UCPC schedule.
- UCPC Membership – Chair, Norm Dennis recommended that the elected member from the
academic colleges and schools should be the chair of the college or school’s curriculum
or program committee (theoretically still elected).
- Nominations for Chair – Jeannine Durdik was elected to serve as chair for the 2017-2019
term.
