    1. Proposed change for the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences – Department of Psychology – change departmental name ( Table One, Attachment 1A and Attachment 1A-1) for information only was presented by Chuck Adams. The proposal requested to change the name of the Department of Psychology to the Department of Psychological Science. The name change more accurately reflects this field of study. It connotes the research emphasis and the integrative nature of the work done by the department. It is also in keeping with the naming convention used by departments at other major universities across the country. The proposal was approved and will be forwarded for the August 2011 Graduate Council meeting.

The new laboratory course (CVEG 2011L) also provides a separate for-credit laboratory to accompany its co-requisite lecture, CVEG 2014 (Civil Engineering Mechanics). Additional changes will reduce duplication in the College of Engineering. Currently the Department of Civil Engineering teaches a separate engineering economics course (CVEG 3022). The proposal was approved and will be forwarded for the September 2011 Faculty Senate meeting.

  5. Other Items for Consideration:

Chuck Adams announced that the proposal for the new PhD in Geosciences was being forwarded to the Graduate Council for its August meeting since the UCPC had approved the new degree several years ago.
